How should you care for roses?
In a vase
To care for roses in a vase, it is first necessary to clean the leaves that will touch the water. These leaves spoil in the water and can cause the flower to rot over time. A rose stem should be cut 2.5 cm above each root. Flowers should be transferred to the vase or container before the cut area dries.
A flower preservative can be added to the water to protect roses. Just add as indicated by the specific product instructions. If possible, leave the flowers in a dark, cool room for about 2 hours, or you can also put them in a refrigerator to adapt. Temperature prolongs the life of flowers. In this aspect, storing freshly cut flowers is very effective.
If necessary, roses can be revived, for example, if they were left in their vase and started to wilt. To do this, you must submerge them completely in a container full of water. The process allows the roses to absorb the liquid they need. It can take 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the damage to the roses. During this process, the stem should be cut about 2.5 cm. Roses love water, so it is necessary to change the water in their vase constantly.
In a pot
Sun and light
It is very important to let them receive sunlight for up to 6 hours during their budding period. It helps them to be healthier.
Temperature and humidity
Changes in air temperature and drafts affect roses. Therefore, try to keep them in an area with an average temperature. Proportional humidity, depending on the temperature, ensures that roses grow. 60% humidity is suitable for this type of flower. An environment with excessive humidity can ruin them.
Water
It is very important to have a schedule for watering your roses. Feed them half a cup of water every two days from October to February. From March to September, that is, spring and summer, use a full cup of water every two days.
Soil and fertilizer
Instead of using ready-to-use soil, it is better to use red soil when mixing soil with humus. This mixture will help it to be healthier. Try to change the soil in spring or autumn. Fertilizers with phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium are the ones we recommend most. In particular, phosphorus helps to strengthen rose stems and accelerate their development.
It is better to use deep and wide pots. It is also important that they have enough holes for your flowers to absorb the necessary air. If necessary, use a drill to create these holes. In addition, consider changing pots every one or two years during the summer.
Pruning
As long as you take good care of your rose, it will continue to bloom. Its blooming seasons depend on the type of plant and the conditions of the season. However, generally, they usually bloom for an average of 20-25 days in summer and 30-40 in winter. If the flowers fade completely, they should be pruned to achieve new ones.
For pruning, there are different levels of effort. For a hard pruning process, all branches that do not have a flower are cut. Then the entire plant is pruned by about 15 or 25 centimeters, leaving four branches from the root. For medium pruning, 10 branches are left 45 or 60 centimeters from the root. Light pruning is more for roses with small stems.
How to propagate roses
Roses are propagated using seed, grafting, and cutting methods. Cutting is the most common method. To do it with seeds, they must be in moist moss for 4 or 6 months. Then they can be planted. Grafting is the most effective, where a rootstock sapling and a young tree are used. Grafting is applied to rootstock seedlings. And cutting is applied to the young plant.
Why do rose petals fall off?
The main reason is a lack of humidity, which causes rose leaves to dry out and turn yellow. Over time, these yellow leaves dry and discolor, causing the leaves to fall off. It can also be due to a prolonged lack of water.
How to cut dried roses?
Roses dry out when their environmental conditions are unfavorable or very dry. Dried branches can be removed by cutting them without damaging the stem. However, if they have yellow leaves, you should wait for them to deteriorate completely. In some cases, these yellow leaves recover on their own.
